McAdams made her television debut in the MTV pilot Shotgun Love Dolls as Beth Swanson in 2001. The pilot was shot during York University’s spring break. That same year, she also made her film debut in Canada with the comedy My Name is Tanino.
The Italian-Canadian co-creation was filmed in Sicily when McAdams was 22 years of age, and it denoted her first time on a plane. After that, McAdams was nominated for a Genie Award in Canada for her performance in the drama Perfect Pie.
In 2004, McAdams made her acting debut in the comedy film Mean Girls, which was based on the book Queen Bees and Wannabes by Rosalind Wiseman and starred Lindsay Lohan, Lacey Chabert, and Amanda Seyfried.
McAdams was 24 years of age when she was given a role as the mean high school queen bee Regina George, and she displayed her personality in Alec Baldwin’s performance in the drama Glengarry Glen Ross in 1992.
