Tan Kim Choo is the largest shareholder in Far East Organization, Singapore’s largest privately held real estate developer. Choo is the spouse of Ng Teng Fong, pioneer behind Far East Association. He started the company in the 1960s and made it the biggest privately held developer of Singaporean real estate. In the 1970s, he started Sino Group in Hong Kong. Her late spouse was brought into the world in China’s southeastern Fujian area and move to Singapore at age six. He suffered a cerebral haemorrhage and passed away in 2010 at the age of 82.
Tan’s two children, Philip and Robert Ng, manage the late Ng’s business realm. Robert, a lawyer by training, built the family’s Hong Kong real estate business under his late father’s direction. Since 1981, he is chairman of Sino Group, which is the parent company of Sino Hotels, Tsim Sha Tsui Properties, and Sino Land, all of which are list in Hong Kong. In the 1990s, his younger brother Philip succeeded his father as CEO of Far East Organization.
In 2011, Tan and her family contributed approximately $100 million to the construction of a Singaporean hospital in memory of Ng. Plans to call it Ng Teng Fong Medical clinic incited Tan Cheng Bock, a previous individual from Parliament, to step down from the leading body of the medical clinic as he contradict it being name after the late property big shot. In June of 2015, the Ng Teng Fong General Hospital opened.
