Isabella Khairiah Hadid was born in Washington, D.C. on October 9, 1996. Her father, Mohamed Hadid, is a Palestinian-Jordanian real estate developer, and her mother, Yolanda Hadid, is a former model from the Netherlands. Hadid claims genealogy from Zahir al-Umar, ruler of northern Palestine in the mid-18th century, through her father. She has a younger brother, Anwar, and an elder sister, Gigi, who are both models. Her two older paternal half-sisters are Marielle and Alana. Hadid and her brothers were raised on a ranch near Santa Barbara, California. The family moved to Beverly Hills after 10 years.

Hadid’s modeling career began at the age of sixteen, with a commercial for Flynn Skye. She also participated in Lesa Amoore’s “The Swan Settings,” starring actor Ben Barnes, and Holly Copeland’s “Smoking Hot.” Hadid also posed for Hanna Hayes’ Fall/Winter 2013 Collection and worked on campaigns for Chrome Hearts, Jesse Jo Stark’s family brand.
