William Martin Joel is an American singer, musician and piano player. Joel had a successful solo career since the 1970s, earning him the moniker “Piano Man” after his signature 1973 song of the same name. He released 12 studio albums that covered pop and rock music from 1971 to 1993. In 2001, he released a single studio album of compositions for classical music.

William Martin Joel was born on 9 May 1949, in the Bronx, New York. At the point when he was one year old, his family moved to the Long Island suburb of Hicksville, in the town of Clam Cove, where he and his cousin Judy, whom his folks embraced, were brought up in a part of Levitt homes.
Joel’s Father Howard Joel, a classical pianist and businessman, was born in Nuremberg, Germany, to a Jewish family. He was the son of Karl Amson Joel, a merchant and manufacturer, and received his education in Switzerland. He died in 2011. Joel marked an agreement with the record organization Family Creations with which he recorded his first solo collection, Cold Spring Harbor, a reference to Cold Spring Harbor, a villa on Leng Island. The most popular songs “She’s Got a Way” and “Everybody Loves You Now” were originally released on this album. However, until they were made available as live performances on Songs in the Attic.
Joel started his Cold Spring Harbor tour in the fall of 1971. He went on tour with his band, which included Rhys Clark on drums, Al Hertzberg on guitar, and Larry Russell on bass guitar, across the mainland United States and Puerto Rico. He opened for bands like the J. Geils Band, The Beach Boys, Badfinger, and Taj Mahal.

He thought these names were unfair and annoying, and with Glass Houses, Joel attempted to record a collection that demonstrated that he could rock harder than his critics gave him credit for, infrequently impersonating and referring to the style of new wave exciting music that was beginning to become well known at that time.
