Derek Hough Career
The Outstanding Choreography Emmy Award category was originally relocated to the Primetime Live Show on September 22, 2013, and each nominee collaborated with Neil Patrick Harris, the show’s host, to design and perform a piece. Along with the other nominees, Hough was included in that number as a Dancing with the Stars nominee.
On March 18, 2014, Hough and his sister Julianne announced “Move Live on Tour,” a summer tour that would take them to over 40 cities in the United States and Canada. The tour would feature dancing and singing by both of them, as well as an appearance by a group of Houghs-hired dancers who were selected through auditions.
In week 6 of season 4 of Dancing with the Stars, Hough made his debut as a guest instructor with Julianne and Apolo Anton Ohno. In season five, he then became a member of the professional instructor cast and was paired with Jennie Garth. Hough and Garth placed fourth in the competition after losing in the semifinals.
