Brian Rafat Awadis was born on 19 November 1996, in San Diego, California, to settler Chaldean Assyrian parents from Tel Keppe, Iraq. Awadis moved on from Mira Plateau Senior Secondary School and went to San Diego Miramar College before dropping during his first year to pursue after his YouTube career full-time. He can communicate in the Suret language, despite the fact that he isn’t familiar.

On 11 October 2008, FaZe Rug and his older brother Brandon launched a shared YouTube channel called “Fathersonchaldean,” uploading their first video. They uploaded around three videos in 2009, so the channel became dormant. On July 11, 2012, FaZe Rug started his own YouTube channel and began posting short Call of Duty gameplay clips. He was then invite to join the esports group FaZe Clan, which he now co-owns in January 2013.
He uploaded his first prank video on 7 December 2014. By October 2015, his channel had outperformed 1 million subscribers — an achievement he figured out how to increase ten times in 2018, earning him the Diamond Play Button Award.
His channel outperformed one billion cumulative video views on 21 July 2017. In November 2019, FaZe Rug delivered a tune called “Goin’ Live,” joined by a music video released in January 2020. Also on 24 June 2020, he appeared as a guest on episode 7 of season 17 of MTV’s “Ridiculousness.”
