About George Roberts
George Rosenberg Roberts is an American agent. He is one of the three unique accomplices of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR), which he helped to establish close by Jerome Kohlberg and his first cousin Henry Kravis in 1976. American financier and philanthropist George Roberts was born in Houston, Texas. Roberts moved on from Culver Military Organization in 1962 and proceeded to procure a degree from Claremont McKenna School in 1966.
Roberts is best known as one of the three original partners of the global investment firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR). While working for Kohlberg in the Bear Stearns corporate finance division, he developed relationships with Jerome Kohlberg and Henry Kravis, the other two partners. KKR has Roberts as its co-executive chairman at the moment. Roberts is also a philanthropist and works in finance. He established the non-profit REDF, which makes investments in businesses that offer disadvantaged individuals training and employment opportunities.
George Roberts Education

George Roberts Career
Roberts became a partner at the age of 29 after working for Bear Stearns in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Roberts, Kohlberg, and Kravis started a series of what they called “bootstrap” investments while working at Bear Stearns.
In 1964, they bought Orkin Exterminating Company, which was one of the first significant leveraged buyout deals. Before very long, the three Bear Stearns financiers would finish a progression of buyouts including Harsh Metals (1965), Incom (a division of Rockwood Worldwide, 1971), Shoemakers Enterprises (1971), and Boren Earth (1973) as well as Thompson Wire, Hawk Engines and Carts through their interest in Harsh Metals.
The $27 million investment in Cobblers ended in bankruptcy, despite the fact that they had a number of investments that were extremely profitable. Most notably, Cy Lewis, executive vice president of Bear Stearns, had objected to Lewis spending too much time on activities outside of work and had repeatedly rejected proposals to establish a separate investment fund within Bear Stearns.
