About Hasso Plattner
One of SAP’s founders, Hasso Plattner has served as Chairman of the Supervisory Board since May 2003. In this job and as Boss Programming Guide he focuses on characterising the medium and long-haul innovation procedure of SAP. Additionally, he is in charge of the SAP Supervisory Board’s Technology Committee. Hasso Plattner and four other IBM employees left in 1972 to start SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products). He received an honorary doctorate from the University of Saarbrucken in 1990, and in 1994, he was given an honorary full professorship. He teaches enterprise software systems at the HPI.
At the age of 60, he left his position as co-chief executive in 2003. Since then, he has been chairman of the company’s supervisory board. He has been influential in the company’s governance, helping to hire Christian Klein and Jennifer Morgan as co-CEOs in 2019. He has repeatedly decreased his stake in SAP.
He owned 5.89% of the company as of 2020, making him the largest individual shareholder. In 1998, Plattner established the non-benefit Hasso Plattner Foundation (HPI). He is the Seat of Big Business Stage and Reconciliation Ideas and a Teacher of Big Business Frameworks at HPI.

In 2008, with €29 million, a Cape Town-based affiliate fund called HPV Africa invested in five businesses. The vast majority of this investment capital is provided by Plattner. In exchange for Panaya’s stakes, HPV made a $6 million investment in the Israeli software company in September 2010.
With more than 25 million euros, Plattner established his own venture capital fund in 2005, Hasso Plattner Ventures. By December 2009, HPV oversaw €150 million and had 17 organisations in its portfolio, including the web-based voyage gateway Dreamlines.
