Jones is a straight-ahead pop singer who occasionally dabbles in big-band or swing jazz. He has won two Grammy Grants and has gotten a sum of five selections. Jones keeps on performing concerts all over the world and stays well-known in Las Vegas. His recordings include “Lollipops and Roses”, “Wives and Lovers”, “The Race Is On“, “The Impossible Dream” and “Call Me Irresponsible”. Jones was born in Hollywood on the night his dad Allan Jones recorded his unique tune “The Donkey Serenade”, bringing about the younger Jones’ statement that he was “practically born in a trunk.” He went to University Secondary School in West Los Angeles and studied show and singing.
His first professional break was with his dad, who was performing at the Thunderbird Hotel and Casino Club in Las Vegas. He recorded a few demos for lyricist Don Raye, standing out from the music business. In 1959, Jones was signed to Capitol Records and delivered the collection This Love for Mine and a couple of singles.
He has only released a few albums since 1980, and now he performs in a variety of concert arenas and occasionally makes appearances at supper clubs. He delivered the collection live at the London Palladium in 1995, and kept it in London on the Emporio label. Japan, where many of Jones’s earlier CD releases were made, has recognized him. He released a 1982 album on Applause Records that featured covers of Applause, Billy Joel, and Eagles.
