American media executive James Cox Kennedy is currently chair of Cox Enterprises, the conglomerate established by his grandfather, James M. Cox. Cox Enterprises is a telecommunications and automotive services conglomerate for which Kennedy serves as chairman emeritus. The Atlanta-based organisation controls the third-greatest US link administrator, serving in excess of 6 million homes and organisations. He controls nearly 25% of the group.

Kennedy started his vocation with Cox Endeavours in 1972, working in different media jobs. He worked as a production assistant, reporter, copy editor, advertising salesman, business manager, and executive vice president/general manager in Atlanta at Cox Newspapers, where he started his career.
In 1979, he was named president of Grand Junction Newspapers, Inc., and shortly thereafter, he was appointed publisher of the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel, where he worked both in the newsroom and the back shop.
