Chinese-American philanthropist and entrepreneur Ge Li. WuXi AppTec, a manufacturer of medical products and a provider of pharmaceutical outsourcing, is led by Li as chairman and chief executive officer. The Shanghai-based organisation has around 45,000 representatives and is associated with drug plans and testing.
Li Ge Education
China was Ge Li’s birthplace. He moved on from the Subsidiary Secondary School of Peking College and accepted his B.A. from Peking College in 1989 and PhD in natural science from Columbia College in 1994. At Columbia, Li was guided by W. Clark Still and Koji Nakanishi.
Li Ge Career
He was sent to China on behalf of Pharmacopeia, Inc. to establish a joint venture there while working for the company. Following his resignation from the company, Li and his wife Ning Zhao co-founded WuXi AppTec in Shanghai in 2000.
In 2008, his business began trading publicly in New York before withdrawing from the NYSE seven years later. In 2018, it changed its name to WuXi AppTec and was listed on Hong Kong and Shanghai exchanges. Before going public in Hong Kong in 2018, the company was listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Li was elected to the Committee of One Hundred in 2011.

According to the company’s 2022 third-quarter report, through the two holding companies G&C VI and G&C V, he holds an 11% stake in WuXi AppTec. According to a June 2022 Hong Kong stock exchange filing, he also owns 3% of WuXi Biologics through holding companies with headquarters in the British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands.
