About Mitski
American singer and composer Mitski Miyawaki. Her first two albums, Lush (2012) and Retired from Sad, New Career in Business (2013), were independently released by the artist when she was a studio composition student at Purchase College’s Conservatory of Music. She originally created the albums for her senior project. Bury Me at Makeout Creek, her third studio album, was released in 2014 on the Double Double Whammy label.
Mitski Family
On September 27, 1990, in Mie Prefecture, Japan, Mitski was born Mitsuki Laycock to an American father and a Japanese mother. She spoke Japanese as a first language. Due to her father’s work at the US Department of State, she travelled about a lot while she was a child. Before settling in the US, she lived in Turkey, China, Malaysia, the Czech Republic, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Mitski Career
Mitski first enrolled at Hunter College to study film, but she later changed her mind and switched to SUNY Purchase College’s Conservatory of Music to pursue studio composition. Her piano-based first and second albums, Lush (2012) and Retired from Sad, New Career in Business (2013), were recorded and independently published when she was a student at Purchase.
When Mitski declared it would be her final performance ever on September 9, 2019, at a performance in Central Park, her fan following expressed their sadness on social media. She initially meant to stop making music permanently, but after seeing the response to this statement online, she told her followers she was not going to stop. She has indicated that the major reason she left was because she found it difficult to adjust to her newfound indie celebrity after her 2018 album Be the Cowboy became popular.
Mitski Net Worth
