Rydel, her brothers Riker, Rocky, and Ross Lynch, as well as family friend Ellington Ratliff, created R5 in 2009, with her younger brother Ryland Lynch serving as manager. In April 2012, R5 signed with Hollywood Records. They embarked on a 10-day trip called the West Coast trip, during which she performed a cover of “Call Me Maybe” on a regular basis. R5 released a four-song EP called Loud in early 2013.
