Seungmin Family
Seungmin was born in Seoul on September 22, 2000. His grandfather introduced him to baseball. He aspired to be a baseball player and worked hard to achieve his goal, but he was forced to give up due to an injury and other issues. Nonetheless, he has enjoyed singing since he was a child. He participated in a nursery rhyme contest in fourth grade, won a prize, and joined a choir. When he was in middle school and contemplating what he should do to be happy in life, he thought of “music,” so he studied and practised singing to appeal to his parents.
Seungmin Career
Seungmin placed second in JYPE’s 13th Open Audition while in high school, encouraged by his school friend and JYP trainee Lee Daehwi. In March 2017, he joined JYP Entertainment.
The firm formally disclosed his individual photo and identity on October 13, 2017 at noon, for his participation in the forthcoming survival show Stray Kids. He was given the job of “Vocal” to begin with. Seungmin’s debut in the boy group Stray Kids was confirmed on the show’s final episode on December 19, 2017.
On March 25, 2018, Seungmin made his debut as the lead vocalist of Stray Kids with the mini album I am NOT. Seungmin took over as primary vocalist after Woojin left the group on October 27, 2019. He has been releasing covers as part of the SKZ-RECORD web series since 2020.
