Daniel Truett Cathy is an American businessman. He is the chairman of Chick-fil-A, the fast food chain that his father, S. Truett Cathy, started and expanded. Chick-fil-A, a fast food chain with more than 2,600 locations, has Cathy as its chairman. In 2021, the Atlanta-based company reported $5.8 billion in revenue. Truett Cathy, Cathy’s father, established Chick-fil-A in 1946, and Dan’s brother Bubba Cathy serves as an executive vice president and director at the family-owned business.

Dan Cathy Family

Cathy was born in Jonesboro, Georgia, in 1953 as the first child of Jeanette and S. Truett Cathy. The Dwarf House was a restaurant that his father had just opened. Bubba Cathy is Cathy’s younger brother, and Trudy is her sister. Additionally, over the course of time, their family fostered numerous children.

Dan Cathy Education

In the latter half of the 1960s, while he was enrolled in local schools, he began producing radio commercials for his father’s original Dwarf House restaurant in Hapeville, Georgia. Cathy received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Georgia Southern University in 1975, and at the same time that he was creating the franchise chain Chick-fil-A, his father was opening additional restaurants throughout Atlanta and Georgia. After graduation, he started working all day for his dad’s organisation, which had proactively been laid out as an establishment chain.

Cathy began as the director of operations before being appointed chairman and CEO in 2013. Cathy spends a lot of time touring the chain’s 2,000 restaurants. Dan Cathy stepped down as CEO of Chick-fil-A, Inc. in late 2021 but remained Chairman of the Board.

Cathy has honorary doctorates from the University of West Georgia, Anderson College, Carver College, and Pepperdine University. His family manages the WinShape Foundation, a non-profit that supports a number of Southern Baptist missions.
