John Tu is a businessman and philanthropist who is Chinese American. John Tu is president and a co-founder of Kingston Technology, the largest independent manufacturer of computer memory products in the world. The Wellspring Valley, California-based organisation produces drives and memory modules for servers, PCs and work area laptops, and had an income of $13.8 billion in 2021.

John Tu Career

In China, John Tu was born in Chongqing. He was the son of a member of the Nationalist government in China. He moved to Shanghai with his folks in 1945, preceding going to Taiwan two years after the fact as the Chinese nationwide conflict approached the coast.

At school, John felt completely lost. He says that he is an average student who can’t get into the best Chinese colleges. As a result, John moved to Germany in 1960. John wanted to major in electrical engineering, but he had no German skills. He knew how to say a couple of sentences in English.

So following half a month, he went out in the city to find somebody who could communicate in English. A biker drove him to a lived-in minister in China and sent him to a language school in Munich. He worked at a shipbuilding factory due to the two-year apprenticeship requirement in Germany at the time.

He studied electrical engineering at the Technische Hochschule Darmstadt in Germany’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and received his degree in 1970 after working there for two years. He then goes to work for Motorola in Wiesbaden, Germany. He moved to California in 1971.

The Storm Lake (Iowa) Times, which won the Pulitzer Prize, was able to buy its local competition and a weekly in a neighbouring county thanks to a donation that Tu made in 2021 to the Western Iowa Journalism Foundation. Erin Gruwell’s Freedom Writers and the Freedom Writers Foundation have both received his support. He gave $1.2 million in 2011 to purchase iPads for all first-year medical students at UC Irvine.
