Reinhold Schmieding was brought into the world in Michigan to German guardians who moved to the U.S. a half year before he was conceived. According to a 2015 press release on Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida, he received his degree from Michigan State University in 1977 before relocating to Germany to work as a salesman for Richards Medical, a manufacturer of medical devices.

He began Arthrex in Munich in 1981, zeroing in on providing nearby specialists with muscular gadgets to work in shoulder, knee, hip and little joints as a medical procedure. He moved the company’s headquarters to Naples, Florida, two decades later. More than 10,000 new products and surgical procedures have been created by the company.
