Sheikh Mansour, also known as Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan KBE, is a politician and Emirati royal who currently serves as vice president and deputy prime minister of the United Arab Emirates. He is also a minister of the presidential court and a member of the Abu Dhabi ruling family. He is married to Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed Al Maktoum, the daughter of Dubai ruler Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and is the brother of the current president of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Mansour is associat with different government-run organisations in the UAE. He is the chairman of the Emirates Racing Authority, the Emirates Investment Authority, and the Ministerial Development Council. He serves on the Supreme Council for Financial and Economic Affairs and the Supreme Council for Petroleum. Both Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) have Mansour on their boards.

Sheikh Mansour’s Education

Mansour was born on 21 November 1970, in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. In 1989, Mansour studied English at Santa Barbara Community College. He received his bachelor’s degree in international affairs from United Arab Emirates University in 1993. In 1997, Mansour was delegate executive of the official office, when his dad Sheik Zayed was the leader of the UAE.

After the passing of his dad, he was selected by his oldest stepbrother, Khalifa II, as the main clergyman of official issues of the Unified Bedouin Emirates, following a consolidation of the official office and official court. In addition, he supported his brother, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, by working in a variety of positions in Abu Dhabi. The ministerial council for services named him chairman.

He joined the board of directors of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) and presided over the IPIC board of directors that same year. He was made chairman of the UAE’s sovereign wealth fund, the Emirates Investment Authority, in 2007.

After investing $280 million in Virgin Galactic in July 2009 through Aabar, Mansour now owns 32% of the company. After purchasing the stake for $2.7 billion in March 2009, Aabar also owns 9.1% of Daimler. It was reported that Aabar intends to increase its stake in Daimler to 15% in August 2010. He owns the Abu Dhabi Media Investment Corporation (ADMIC), which collaborated with British Sky Broadcasting to launch Sky News Arabia, a brand-new Abu Dhabi-based Arabic-language news channel. The English-language newspaper The National is also owned by ADMIC.
