Sri Prakash Lohia is an Indian-born Indonesian billionaire business tycoon, and the pioneer and executive of Indorama Enterprise, an enhanced petrochemical and material organisation. Lohia is from India, but since 1974, he has lived and worked primarily in Indonesia. Its partner in Bangkok, Indorama Adventures, produces polyester goods and reported revenue of 468,108 million Thai baht in 2021. Lohia was born in Kolkata on August 11, 1952. When Lohia was 22, he and his family moved to Indonesia. In the town of Purwakarta in West Java, he and his father established Indorama’s first factory, which produced cotton-spun yarns for textiles. In 1984, he became a citizen of Indonesia. Lohia expanded the business by entering the petrochemical sector and investing in and acquiring companies, such as Indorama Ventures, the largest producer of polyester and polyethene terephthalate (PET), a plastic resin that is used in a wide range of consumer goods, including bottles and toothbrushes.

In 2006, Indorama procured Eleme Petrochemicals, which was a division of state-possessed Nigerian Public Petrol. He brought the plant back to life and sold it again for money two years later. Lohia flew to Nigeria in 2007 to help free some Indian engineers who were working for Eleme Petrochemicals when they were kidnapped and held hostage by rebels.
