American businessman, investor, producer of motion pictures, philanthropist, media personality, and author Mark Cuban. Cuban co-founded the internet streaming service Broadcast.com, which he sold to Yahoo! in 1999, for $4.8 billion. The billionaire, who makes an appearance on the reality show “Shark Tank” about investors, owns the majority stake in the NBA team Dallas Mavericks as well as stakes in movie theatres, television networks, and technology startups.

Mark Cuban Family

Cuban was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His dad, Norton Cuban, was a vehicle upholsterer. Cuban depicted his mom, Shirley, as somebody with “an alternate work or different vocation objective each and every other week.”

Cuban is Jewish, and spent childhood in Mount Lebanon, a suburb of Pittsburgh, in a Jewish common family. After his family immigrated from Russia via Ellis Island, his paternal grandfather changed the name to “Cuban.” Mark’s brother Brian claims that his maternal grandparents were Romanian Jewish immigrants, despite Mark’s assertion that their maternal grandmother was Lithuanian.

At the age of 12, Cuban began his business career. To pay for a costly pair of tennis shoes, he sold garbage bags. A couple of years after the fact, he brought in cash by selling stamps and coins. Cuban ran newspapers from Cleveland to Pittsburgh when he was 16 years old and took advantage of a strike by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

On July 7, 1982, Cuban went to Dallas, Texas. There he worked as a salesperson for Your Business Software, one of Dallas’s earliest PC software retailers, and as a bartender for Elan, a bar on Greenville Avenue.
