About Alexey Kuzmichev
Russian businessman Alexey Viktorovich Kuzmichev, also known as Kousmichoff. He is one of the pioneers behind the LetterOne Gathering and the Alfa Gathering. Kuzmichev is a partner in VimpelCom, Alfa-Bank, and X5 Retail Gathering. Kuzmichev made a $2.5 billion sale of his stake in the energy venture TNK-BP to the state-run oil company Rosneft in March 2013.
Alexey Kuzmichev Career
Kuzmichev was born on 15 October 1962 in Kirov. Somewhere in the range of 1980 and 1982, he served in the military on the Soviet-Chinese boundary as a radio administrator. He joined the Communist Party during this time.
In 1983 he enrolled at the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys, where he met German Khan and Mikhail Fridman, two of his future business partners. Alfa Photo was established in 1988 by Mikhail Alfimov, Kuzmichev Fridman, and Khan, and focuses on the import of photo chemicals.
Kuzmichev later persuaded his partners to expand into the export industry. As a result, Alfa Eco was founded in 1998. Alfa-Bank, Russia’s largest commercial bank, VimpelCom, an international telecom company, and Turkcell, a Turkish telecom company, are all part of the Alfa Group’s portfolio.
