Colleen Mae Ballinger is an American comic, YouTuber, actress, singer and author. She is most popular for her creation and depiction of the social media Miranda Sings, posting videos of the person on YouTube, playing out her one-woman comedy follow-up on visits in theatres around the world, and making and featuring in a Netflix unique series named Haters Back Off.

Ballinger was born in Santa Barbara, California, the girl of Tim Ballinger, a sales supervisor, and his wife Gwen, a homemaker. Ballinger was self-taught during middle school went to San Marcos Secondary School and graduated in 2008 from Azusa Pacific College, where she studied vocal performance.

From 2007 to 2009, Ballinger performed at Disneyland in California, gave private voice, development instructing and piano examples to youngsters and performed at parties and cabaret spaces. In 2009, she played Kelsi Nielsen in Secondary School Melodic at Candlelight Pavilion Dinner Theater in Claremont, California.
Since January 2008, Ballinger has posted many videos of her hilariously talentless and quirky person, Miranda Sings, on the YouTube channel Miranda Sings. The person is a satire of the numerous YouTube videos including bad, yet pretentious, performers who film themselves singing as a type of self-promotion, despite getting the sensible or cruel remarks of “haters”.
In 2015, Ballinger showed up as Miranda on The Grace Helbig Show, along with Jim Parsons, and she delivered a book, Selp-Helf, published by Simon and Schuster, which considers it a “decidedly pointless, candid, silly ‘how-to’ guide”. Written in Miranda’s voice by Ballinger and her sibling Christopher Ballinger, it is introduced in mock-scrapbook dormant, with silly counsel, photographs and humorously awful work of art.
