Matter began his YouTube channel, “Jordan Matter,” in 2011. He had 1.4 million subscribers in November 2018, which had expanded to 13 million by October 2022. In 2023 his channel had over 17.5 million subscribers and more than 6 billion views. His social media achievement has been ascribed to his “10-Minute Photo Challenge” series, which he started shooting during his photoshoots for his 2018 book, “Born to Dance“.
Matter first became famous while dealing with his dance photography series, “Dancers Among Us”, in which he shot professional dancers striking poses and performing in public places. He started going for shooting of the series in 2009, after meeting Jeffrey Smith of the Paul Taylor Dance Company. Matter’s photos were distributed in 2012 in a book of the same name. In 2013, following the completion of his Dancers Among Us series, Matter started capturing photographs in broad daylight, in a series named “Athletes Among Us”.
