About Peso Pluma
Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija, better known as Peso Pluma, is a Mexican singer and musician. When he was in his teens, he picked up the guitar and wrote songs that were influenced by local Mexican music to develop his talents. His collaborations with Natanael Cano, “AMG” and “PRC,” both charted on the Billboard Hot 100 after being used on TikTok. Pluma and Eslabon Armado created history in April when their song “Ella Baila Sola” became the first regional Mexican song to reach the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number four.
Peso Pluma Family
Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija was born on June 15, 1999, in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico. His mother’s relatives were from Badiraguato, Sinaloa. His parents were both born in Mexico; his father is of Lebanese descent and was born in Chiapas.
Peso Pluma Career
Pluma collaborated with his cousin, fellow singer and songwriter Roberto “Tito” Laija Garcia, commonly known as Tito Double P, on the release of two live albums, Disco en Vivo on 21 February 2020 and Disco en Vivo, Vol. 2 on 4 July 2020. The sets were released by the indie label El Cartel de los ngeles and consists of recordings of his performances throughout Jalisco. On 20 April of the following year, he published his debut studio album, Ah y Qué?, which included twelve songs and collaborations with El Choforo, Lalo Reyes, and Jorge Morales El Jilguero.
Pluma’s second studio album, Efectos Secundarios, was released on March 19, 2021, preceded by the singles “Con Dinero Baila el Perro” and “Lo Que Me Das,” as well as songs with past collaborators El Choforo and Hector Rubio. Pluma focused on developing his sound, releasing the single “Por Las Noches” on June 11, a slowed-down sierreo music about an unintentional split.
On March 9, a collaboration with Colombian producer Ovy on the Drums named “El Hechizo” was released to critical acclaim, along with a music video directed by Cristian Aguilar. Pluma’s concert in León, Guanajuato, scheduled for March 11th, has been rescheduled for March 30th due to logistical and local permit concerns. Given the singer’s activism on narcoculture and his enormous appeal among the city with the biggest number of impoverished youths in Mexico, the mistake sparked speculation that it was orchestrated by authorities.
Pluma regarded the late young Mexican vocalists Ariel Camacho and Valentn Elizalde as his greatest influences, performing their songs at a young age. As an enthusiastic hip-hop music fan, he named Canadian rapper Drake as his favorite musician, citing him as a reflection of growing up across borders.
