Ashwin’s most memorable occupation was in 1967 as an Improvement physicist with Inmont Corp (current BASF) in Detroit, US. Ashwin has held a number of top positions since joining Asian Paints in 1968 as a top Executive, including Vice Chairman and MD, Director – R & D, Works Director, and Whole-time Director. At Asian Paints, Ashwin has been liable for the turn of events and presentation of numerous items without precedent for India. He spearheaded Mechanised Variety matching in Indian industry.

Ashwin has been a member of the company’s Board since 1997, right from the beginning, and was instrumental in establishing the 50:50 Joint Venture between Asian Paints Limited and PPG Industries, Inc., the world’s leading manufacturer of automotive coatings.
