Nathan “Natie” Kirsh was born on January 6, 1932, and he went to Potchefstroom to grow up in a Jewish family. In 1949, he graduated from Potchefstroom Boys High. In 1952, Kirsh graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand with a Bachelor of Commerce. He also holds a privileged doctorate from the College of Swaziland.

In 1952, Kirsh started helping his mom with the activity of his dad’s unique malt manufacturing plant in Potchefstroom, then, in 1958, sent off his own most memorable endeavour, establishing a corn processing and malt business in Eswatini.
