Rocco Benito Commission is a billionaire American businessman who was born in Italy. He is the founder, chairman, and CEO of Mediacom, the 5th-largest cable television company in the United States. Starting around 2011, the organisation is exclusively owned by Commisso. He has held positions with Cablevision, the Royal Bank of Canada, and Chase Manhattan Bank. Commisso has held the positions of owner and chairman of the New York Cosmos since 2017, and owner of the Italian football team ACF Fiorentina since June 2019.

Commisso, Rocco Benito, was born in Calabria, Italy on November 25, 1949. Commisso graduated from Mount Saint Michael Academy in the Bronx in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Columbia University’s School of Engineering and Applied Science on a full undergraduate scholarship. He received his MBA from Columbia Business School in 1975. He was co-chief of Columbia’s varsity football (soccer) group, and chosen as the leader of the business college understudy body; furthermore, he got the business college administration grant.

At Pfizer Inc., Commisso started his business career. After returning to Columbia and completing business school, he worked in the financial sector for ten years, initially at Chase Manhattan Bank, now J.P. Morgan Chase. In 1978, he started working with link organisations and other diversion undertakings as a piece of Pursue corporate supporting division.

He went on to work for the Royal Bank of Canada, where he was in charge of the bank’s lending to the media and communications industries in the United States. He worked for Cablevision Industries Corporation as an executive vice president, chief financial officer, and director from 1986 to 1995.

With approximately 1.3 million customers at the time of its merger with Time Warner, Cablevision Industries rose from the 25th to the 8th largest cable company in the United States during this time. Since he founded Mediacom Communications Corporation in 1995 from his basement, Commisso has held the positions of chairman and CEO. In the beginning, Mediacom acquired cable systems in smaller American communities that were not well-served.
