Vikram Lal was born in 1942, an Indian businessman. In 1966, he joined the family business that his father had started, Eicher India. In 1959, under the name Eicher Tractor Corporation of India Pvt., Eicher became India’s first tractor manufacturer. Ltd., which began as a joint venture with the German tractor manufacturer Eicher and eventually expanded into the production of light commercial vehicles and heavy vehicles in 1986.
Eicher Motors is currently led by his son, Siddhartha Lal. His little girl Simran runs Great Earth. Lal volunteers at his own Goodearth Education Foundation during his retirement. Lal joined the privately-owned company in 1966 and consolidated Eicher Engines in 1982. 30 years later, he got the rights to the Royal Enfield brand.
